Bind your spirit in lengths of lace? Wrap your soul
in threads of gold or give gems for your body and face?
Shall I harness your love with little deeds or costly beads?
Shall I caress your mind with God's words divine;
quote prophets, sages and kings?
What shall I offer to keep you near?
What does it take to keep you here?
Shared moments in a distant land or
a stroll on a beach hand in hand?
What would keep you? Where do I start?
How can I capture your precious heart?
The world offers so many things
moments, bobbles and shiny 'blings'
but more than these and the words on pages,
is my commitment to you through all the ages.
I'll stay with you through light and dark
To keep you, I commit my heart!
